Seeing God In Our 20/20 Hindsight

By: Lottie Valles

This week, I would like to take a look back and see God in our 20 /20 hindsight vision.

I think we can all agree that we have just experienced a big part of history. This election will go down in the history of “memorable deeds, the Book of the Act’s of American Chronicles.”. Most of us will never forget where we were when we heard the results of the election between Harris and Trump. Nov. 5, 2024.

For several years, we Christians have seen that America was spiraling out of our comfort zone. We didn’t like the ungodly decisions that our current government was imposing on all of us. We have seen through history however, when you are ruled by an ungodly ruler, everyone suffers at their hand, even when you don’t agree with them. The same applies for a good and godly ruler. Whatever good they do for their country, everyone benefits whether they are good or bad people.

The Bible teaches us in 2 Chron. 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” America called for a National Day of Prayer before the election. Many Christian people were on their knees and crying out to God to forgive our sinful ways. We were tired of babies being aborted for the sake of personal gain. We were tired of God being taken out of our schools and public places. We were tired of people letting small children have their bodies mutilated because someone thought they were smarter than God and decided that a little boy should be a girl, or a little girl should be a boy. We were tired of government deciding that they would claim our children and tell the parents that they would make choices and decisions concerning these children’s lives. And the list does not stop here.

Government wanted to be in control, yet all the while, looking in our 20/20 hindsight, we can see that God was in control and has always been in control. Even when it didn’t look like it to the “pea brain” people around the world, HE was in control. God’s ways are certainly not our way. We cannot comprehend the magnitude of our Omnipotent God. HE needed to get our attention. God just let us spiral downward with our own choices, until we decided to put HIM back on the throne and follow HIS direction for our lives. The way I see it, God has given us another opportunity to serve HIM. HE is testing us to see if we TRULY will humble ourselves to HIM. If our country is not lead in a more godly direction, we will see God’s wrath unleashed again.

Not everyone agreed on the outcome of the election, I can’t understand how you wouldn’t, given the trajectory we were going. The answer is, NOT EVERYONE BELIEVES IN OUR FATHER GOD. This is the purpose of P.R.A.I.S.E. Girls. We are asked to tell the world about our Savior. To point unbelievers to HIS saving Grace. We need to make sure that we do not ignore the little ones. It starts with them because they will be the leaders of the free world going forward.

I wholeheartedly believe that if the current party had remained in office, we would be seeing the return of Jesus Christ very, very soon. However, we Christian’s will agree that GOD elected this man Trump, to be our Commander and Chief of the United States . HE saw more in Donald Trump than anyone did. HE used an ungodly man and put this man in this position for HIS purpose and for HIS Glory. HE saved this man from more than one assassination attempt. HE protected and sheltered him through all the “ mud slinging defamation” that he has gone through over the last several years. We can see that HE has restored his name and accreditation better than before. People that were against him are now trying to get close to him.

God tells us to pray for and honor our leaders. Rom. 13: 1-7 . Even when we don’t always agree with their leadership, we are to recognize that their authority over us was put in place by God. We are to recognize that they were put into their position by God to achieve HIS ultimate plan. They will be accountable to God, not us because they are supposed to be serving the Lord. Yes, you are right, they don’t always “ serve the Lord “, they serve themselves. However it is not our place to judge them. God’s the one who judges and HE will vindicate all those that were mislead by an ungodly leader. God said, (Luke 20:25)Give to Cesar what belongs to Cesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” In essence, everything belongs to God, and our devotion and worship belongs to HIM. If government tells us to do something offensive to God, in this case, we are to honor God, not government. If we would not have gone through the trials of a bad leadership, we would not have seen HIS miraculous hands at work in the outcome of this election. HE allowed us to go through the trials so that we will see HIM. HE knew that we needed a Savior so HE sent HIS SON. HE gives us a choice to trust HIM or trust the world. Once again, our 20/20 hindsight showed us that when we make wrong choices, we spiral downward until we have had enough and we call out to HIM, HE hears us, then HE comes to find HIS one lost sheep.

For as long as we can follow history, we have had kings (president’s) to lead their people and the king (president) ruled the land. I would like to go back to the book of 1 Kings and remind you that we can see that there were good kings and there were bad kings. We can also see that the good kings had a longer rule than the bad ones. God used all of them for HIS Glory, good or bad.

King David reigned for about 40 years. He was a good king. Yes he was a sinner. He was an adulterer and a murderer. BUT GOD used sinful people all through history. At the end of Kg. David’s reign, he was a very frail and unhealthy person. His son, Absalom was next in line to assume the throne, but he was dead as a result of sinful actions. Then Adonijah was next in line. He decided that since his father, David, was ready to die, he would just go ahead and appoint himself as king. He celebrated his kingship by sacrificing many animals to the serpent’s stone. He even sacrificed his own baby. This of course was not of God. That was a sinful, detestable act. That was worshipping idols. How many babies have been sacrificed today for the convenience of the one’s making that choice. BUT GOD still forgives when one is sincerely repenting to HIM for their sinful choices. Adonijah didn’t inquire to his father about his position. If he had, he would have known that Father God had already told King David that his son Solomon, whose mother was Bethsheba, ( the woman of the adulteress affair), would be the one to rule as king and he would be the one to sit on the throne and build a temple to the Lord. Adonijah made a deadly decision because he didn’t consult with his father, David. In the end Solomon had his own brother killed. But only because Adonijah had murdered two innocent men.

At a very young age, about 20 years old, Solomon was a strong and courageous King. Wise beyond his years. He was a good and godly king. He prayed for wisdom and God granted it to him. In 1 Kg. 2:2, Before David dies, he commanded Solomon “Be strong and show yourself a man. Keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in HIS ways and keeping HIS statutes, HIS commandments, HIS rules and HIS testimonies, as it is written in the law’s of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, that the Lord may establish HIS word that HE spoke concerning me, saying, “If your son’s pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.” This is telling us that if our leaders all through history would have followed God’s laws, we would have lacked for nothing. BUT, as Soloman’s power and his wealth grew, and as he started to trust himself, he gave in to his sinful ways. Eventually he dies a powerless man, all because he forgot where all his power and wisdom came from, – – – GOD.

There were many more kings after Soloman. Most of these kings were ungodly and most of their rules didn’t last long because they turned away from God. Many people had to suffer thru their kings bad rule and they could have been godly people.

Our 20/20 hindsight let’s us see that when we take our eyes off of God, we suffer the consequences. History allows us to learn from our mistakes. When we start to think that we know better than God, we have to suffer the trials of our choices. God meant those trials to bring us closer to HIM. It’s in those times of hardship and grief, that we realize we need a Savior. It would be our blessing if we called on HIM even in times of gladness. BUT GOD knows our human nature. HE is so gracious, HE gives us Freedom of choice. When we stray away I think of the parable of the lost sheep. The Lord, leaving the 99 sheep, goes out to seek the lost 1. HE will never leave us. HE will never forsake us. Aren’t you glad we have a Savior?

Father, I am so thankful that I have a Savior. I ask for your guidance in my life and I pray that the words I have written were the one’s you chose for me. I ask your blessings upon our country and our new leaders. I ask your blessings on Praise Girls and that you will guide us and direct our path’s. Thank you for ALL you do.

In Jesus Name Amen 🙏✝👚
